There are many reasons to do individual therapy. The benefits of individual therapy is being able to discuss a problem with a professional who is non-judgmental of your situation and has clinical experience working with different challenges.
Some of the tasks in therapy include building understanding and awareness surrounding issues. Sometimes it requires diving more into the roots of the matter in order to look at different ways of managing or coping with challenges. The managing and coping comes through building skills which are useful to you personally, as well as being able to look at challenges from a different and healthy perspective. All these are discussed in the therapy session which can then be applied in action outside of the therapy session.
The length of time of treatment can depend on what it is that you would like to accomplish. At the beginning of treatment your therapist will set goals with you about what your main concerns are and what you would like to accomplish while in therapy.

In couples therapy we seek to find ways in which to create a healthier relationship between the couple, in order to create more joy as well as using the pain for growth.
The therapist's client is the relationship, which is the entity which exists between partners. Just as in individual counseling the therapist looks at what internal and external factors are going to be the healthiest for the individual, in couples counseling the therapist looks at what internal and external factors are going to be healthiest for the relationship.
This can involve looking at communication differences, understanding and changing unhealthy patterns, ways in which each couple can join together, and seeing how each partner's individual strengths and values can contribute to the relationship as a whole.

Connection is what heals. Group Therapy is a highly effective tool to achieve the same results as individual therapy. The benefit of group therapy is that you are able to connect to other members within the group who are struggling with similar issues. By group members sharing their personal challenges, thoughts, and insights it helps each member of the group to gain perspective on their own and other's situations. This allows the group to grow and heal together.
In groups the facilitating therapist can also give clinical insight and teach coping skills when it is appropriate, which helps you to build the same tools that you would in individual or couples therapy.
Group therapy is a more cost effective form of therapy. At Mellow Mountain Counseling it is $50.00 for a 2 hour session ($25.00 per hour of therapy!)
